Hyderabad Cybercrime Wing Cracks Down on Fraud Network, ₹145 Crore Refunded to Victims

In a major nationwide operation, Hyderabad’s Cybercrime Police have arrested 37 individuals involved in online fraud across multiple states. The crackdown targeted a network operating fake call centers and scam operations that deceived thousands of victims across India.

According to officials, the arrested individuals were part of an organized syndicate that used phishing, impersonation, and tech support scams to siphon money from unsuspecting people. Over 250 complaints were traced back to the gang, which operated from locations including Delhi, Noida, Jharkhand, and Andhra Pradesh.

Following detailed investigation and coordination with banks, over ₹145 crore has been refunded to victims. Authorities said this was one of the biggest recoveries made in recent cyber fraud cases in the country.

Police Commissioner K. Sreenivasa Reddy commended the Cybercrime team for their efforts and encouraged citizens to stay alert and report suspicious online activity promptly. The Hyderabad police plan to intensify surveillance and awareness campaigns to combat the growing menace of cybercrime.
